The grinding paste is used together with Tormek's leather sharpening wheels. The unique qualities of the leather combined with the grinding paste will effectively remove the burr that occurs during sharpening, without damaging the edge. At the same time, it will also polish the grind bevel to its final finish.
The grinding paste consists of a combination of micro-abrasives and polishing components (the average grain size is 3 microns).
One application is sufficient for 5–10 tools. Work the grinding paste into the leather. The leather will become softer and more effective each time you use the grinding paste.
When you have a new leather sharpening wheel, first impregnate it with a light machine oil to achieve the right texture and to absorb the grinding paste.
If you are working in a dry climate, you may need to re-impregnate the sharpening wheel with a few drops of oil before using the grinding paste again after some time. Do not let the grinding paste dry, instead add more oil if necessary.
