With the SP-650 stone sharpener, you can change the grain size of Tormek's original stone to produce a finer sharpening surface. The other side is used to maintain the sharpening stone and reactivate the grains for effective sharpening.
Tormek's original sharpening stone is designed so that its properties can be adjusted from fast sharpening to fine sharpening, offering significant advantages. Once you have created the desired shape of your tool, such as a chisel, you can achieve an even finer edge on the same sharpening machine, with the same stone and with the same jigs and settings. In addition to the convenience of not having to switch equipment, you are also guaranteed the same edge angle.
Switch to fine sharpening
If you want to change the stone to finer sharpening, press the fine side of the stone sharpener against the stone's surface for about 30 seconds. This will change the functional surface of Tormek's original stone (220 grit) to approximately 1000 grit.
Activate the sharpening stone
When you want to return to the regular 220 grit, press the rough side against the stone for a few seconds until you see the surface of the stone change.
To keep the stone clean and effective, use the rough side of the stone sharpener as needed. Press it firmly against the stone with your hands for about 30 seconds. This process does not create unnecessary wear on the stone and can be repeated an unlimited number of times.
